KATHMANDU: CG Motors, the automotive division of the Chaudhary Group, is preparing to introduce two new vehicle brands, Smart and Jetour in the Nepali market.

The company had completed setting up a dedicated Smart showroom in Thapathali, Kathmandu, with vehicles already placed for launch. However, the showroom was destroyed during the arson incidents seen in the Gen Z movement, delaying the brand’s debut.

“We were planning to launch Smart before the festivals. After the showroom was burned, the plan was pushed back. Sales will now begin from next month,” a CG Motors source said.

CG Motors will position Smart in the premium segment, offering advanced comfort and technology. The brand’s lineup includes the Hashtag One, Hashtag Three, and Hashtag Five models.

Smart is a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Geely Holding, and has seen strong sales in Europe.

Alongside Smart, the company is also preparing to bring Jetour to Nepal. CG Motors has already secured the dealership and is working on two models for the local market.

Jetour, a sub-brand of China’s Chery Automobile, is known for its off-road and lifestyle SUVs and has a growing presence in hybrid vehicles globally.

Jetour plans to introduce EVs internationally by 2026, and its Nepal entry is expected to align with the start of its electric vehicle production.
