KATHMANDU: CG Motors Pvt. Ltd., the official distributor of GAC vehicles in Nepal, has issued a statement following the fatal fire incident involving an Aion Y electric car in Bharatpur.
The incident occurred on the morning of September 11 at Basant Chowk, Bharatpur Metropolitan City-9, Chitwan. The vehicle caught fire while being driven, resulting in the death of Amar Parajuli.
CG Motors expressed condolences to the Parajuli family and wished them strength during the difficult time.
The company said Nepal Police and the concerned government authorities are investigating the incident. It said it will support the investigation and wait for the official findings.
According to CG Motors, the vehicle manufacturer will also inspect the damaged car. The company said the manufacturer will make its investigation report public after completing the process.
CG Motors said a technical and scientific investigation based on global protocols will help determine the actual cause of the fire.
The company also raised concerns over what it called unverified information and one-sided claims circulating on social media and in some media reports. It urged the public and media to avoid drawing conclusions before the official investigation is completed.
