KATHMANDU: JSW Motors is preparing to launch its first vehicle in India, with the Chery Jetour T2 SUV likely to be introduced under the name ‘Combat’ later this year.
The JSW Combat is expected to be priced between 3 to 5 million Indian rupees, ex-showroom. It will compete with SUVs such as the recently launched Honda ZR-V.
The SUV will use a monocoque chassis and retain the boxy design of the Jetour T2. It is expected to feature a 15.6-inch touchscreen, 10.6-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 540-degree camera, ventilated front seats and adaptive cruise control.
Powering the India-spec Combat will be a 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine paired with a plug-in hybrid system. The setup uses two electric motors and an 18.4 kWh battery pack.
The SUV is expected to offer an electric-only range of around 90 km under the NEDC cycle.
The Jetour T2 is already available in several international markets, while its India launch will mark JSW Motors’ entry into the Indian passenger vehicle market with a Chery-based product.
Jetour is nearing its official launch in Nepal, with Laxmi Motorhub appointed as its authorized local distributor.
