KATHMANDU: The dispute over the center line and intersections in Banepa along the Araniko Highway’s Suryabinayak-Dhulikhel road project has been resolved.
The issue was settled following repeated facilitation by the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development.
With the dispute resolved, construction work in the Banepa market area, which had been stalled for a long time, has resumed, according to Physical Infrastructure Development Minister Sunil Lamsal.
The road’s old surface is currently being removed. The project aims to complete blacktopping within the next two months, he said.
The Sanga-Dhulikhel section is 7.9 km long, including service lanes. Blacktopping has been completed on 6.5 km of the road. The remaining 1.4 km will be upgraded to a four-lane road, including service lanes, with construction targeted for completion within the current fiscal year.
The 15.8-km Suryabinayak-Dhulikhel road is being upgraded in two sections. Construction on the Sanga-Dhulikhel section is nearing completion, while work on the Sanga-Suryabinayak section has progressed slowly.
The construction contract was signed on December 13, 2022, with a three-year completion deadline. As the work could not be completed on time, the deadlines for both sections have been extended by one year each.
