KATHMANDU: Nissan has unveiled a new midsize SUV called the NX8. The model has been developed in partnership with Dongfeng Motor. It joins the brand’s budget-focused N-series lineup in China.

The NX8 uses the same design style as the N6 and N7 sedans. It has a grille-free front with full-width LED DRLs. It gets flush door handles and bold shoulder lines.

The SUV measures 4,870mm in length. Width stands at 1,920mm. Height is 1,680mm. The wheelbase is 2,917mm. It is longer than the Rogue (X-Trail).

A roof-mounted lidar unit is visible. Multiple sensors are seen around the body. This points to advanced driver assistance features.

The cabin has not been revealed yet. It is expected to follow the layout of the N6 and N7. The SUV will be offered in a five-seat layout.

Nissan has confirmed the NX8 as a New Energy Vehicle. Fully electric versions will be available. Power outputs will be 288hp and 335hp. A plug-in hybrid and range-extender version is also planned.

Battery packs will be supplied by CATL. Lithium iron phosphate chemistry will be used. Ultra-fast charging support has been confirmed. Driving range figures are yet to be disclosed.

The NX8 will launch in China in the first half of 2026. Prices will be revealed closer to launch. Exports to other markets are planned.
