KATHMANDU: Vehicle imports from several brands have dropped sharply this year, especially those selling premium models.
According to customs data from January to mid-October 2025, many Japanese brands recorded minimal or no imports. Subaru, Mazda, and Isuzu have not brought in any passenger vehicles this year.
Among European brands, Land Rover imported 10 units, while Audi brought in only 4. Imports of Renault, Peugeot, and Mercedes remained at zero.
Chinese brands also saw limited activity. Wuling imported just 4 units, while Avatr and Neta did not import any. Korean brand SsangYong reported zero imports as well.
American brands Jeep and Ford each imported 8 units. Altogether, 14 brands imported only 37 vehicles in the first nine and a half months of 2025.
