KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office launched a passenger help desk at New Bus Park on Friday to assist travelers during the upcoming Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals.
The help desk aims to make festive travel safer, easier and more organized. Passenger movement is expected to increase as people travel across the country to celebrate the festivals.
Speaking at the launch, Deputy Inspector General Sushil Singh Rathore urged transport operators to ensure easy ticketing, follow the government-set fares and maintain safe transportation services.
He warned against overcharging, ticket black marketing, carrying passengers beyond vehicle capacity and mistreating passengers. Those involved in such activities will face action under the prevailing law.
The police have also asked passengers to purchase tickets only from authorized counters and take care of their belongings. Passengers can report overcharging, fraud or other suspicious activities to the police.
Security and monitoring will also be strengthened at bus parks and other areas with high passenger movement during the festive season.
Representatives from the National Federation of Nepalese Transport Entrepreneurs, public transport operators and workers, local governments and various police offices attended the launch event.
