KATHMANDU. Two electric SUVs were unveiled on the second day of the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2026, with both models entering the Nepali market at the same price of Rs 6 million.
The Hongqi EHS4 from Chinese premium automaker Hongqi and the Haval Jolion Max EV share several similarities, including modern styling, premium interiors, long driving ranges and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). However, they differ in motor output, battery capacity, range, dimensions and cabin features.
EHS4 leads in motor power
The Hongqi EHS4 is powered by a 160 kW electric motor that produces 240 Nm of torque. The Jolion Max EV, meanwhile, gets a 150 kW front-wheel-drive motor producing 260 Nm of peak torque.
The EHS4 has a 10 kW advantage in motor output, while the Jolion Max EV produces 20 Nm more torque. On paper, both offer competitive performance.
EHS4 Offers Larger Battery and Longer Range
The Hongqi EHS4 also has an advantage in battery capacity and range. It comes with a 67.1 kWh battery pack and offers a WLTP-certified range of 460 km on a full charge.
The Jolion Max EV uses a 58.3 kWh battery and has a WLTP range of 400 km. This gives the EHS4 an 8.8 kWh larger battery and 60 km more claimed range than the Jolion Max EV.
Jolion Max EV is larger
The Jolion Max EV is slightly larger in terms of exterior dimensions. It measures 4,590 mm in length, 1,877 mm in width and 1,675 mm in height.
The EHS4 measures 4,520 mm in length, 1,873 mm in width and 1,647 mm in height. Therefore, the Jolion Max EV is 70 mm longer, 4 mm wider and 28 mm taller than the EHS-4.
The EHS4 offers 393 liters of boot space, which can be expanded to 1,300 liters with the rear seats folded. The available specifications for the Jolion Max EV do not mention its boot capacity.
Premium Features in Both SUVs
Both SUVs come with feature-rich cabins.
The EHS4 gets an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch central touchscreen. Its features include ventilated front seats, 64-color dynamic ambient lighting, a heat pump, automatic climate control and a powered tailgate.
It also gets an integrated panoramic glass roof, semi-hidden door handles, rain-sensing wipers, a heated rear windshield and a memory function for the tailgate.
The Jolion Max EV comes with a 14.6-inch multimedia touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, six speakers, voice control, mobile connectivity and a panoramic sunroof.
Its front seats feature electric adjustment along with heating and ventilation. Other features include a heat pump, automatic climate control and an electric tailgate.
Strong ADAS and safety features
The EHS4 comes with six airbags and a 360-degree surround-view camera. Its ADAS package includes adaptive cruise control, lane centering, automatic lane change, traffic sign recognition, front vehicle departure warning, advanced emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist and blind-spot detection.
The Jolion Max EV also offers a comprehensive safety package, including lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane change assist, front collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, front radar and driver fatigue monitoring.
It also gets a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, door opening warning and rear collision warning.
Which one should you choose?
With both SUVs priced at Rs 6 million, the choice ultimately depends on the buyer’s priorities.
The Hongqi EHS4 appears more attractive for buyers prioritizing a larger battery, longer driving range and higher motor output.
The Haval Jolion Max EV, on the other hand, offers a slightly larger body, higher torque and a feature-rich cabin with strong connectivity and comfort features.
Ultimately, the competition between these two SUVs will extend beyond specifications and price. Brand reputation, driving experience, after-sales service and the overall ownership experience could play a decisive role in determining which model gains an edge in the Nepali market.
