KATHMANDU: Haval is set to enter Nepal’s battery electric vehicle segment with the launch of the Haval Jolion Max EV at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo, which begins on August 11 at Bhrikutimandap.
The new model will be Haval’s first pure electric SUV in Nepal. It is expected to share its electric platform and powertrain with GWM’s ORA 5 electric SUV, rather than the smaller ORA 03 hatchback.
The Jolion Max EV is expected to be powered by a 150 kW front-mounted electric motor paired with a 58.3 kWh battery pack. The SUV is likely to offer a driving range of around 400 km on a full charge, although GWM Nepal has not yet confirmed the official specifications.
Compared to the petrol-powered Haval Jolion already on sale in Nepal, the electric version is larger. It is 120 mm longer, 3 mm wider, features a 10 mm longer wheelbase, and is 6 mm lower. The increased dimensions are expected to provide more cabin space and improved passenger comfort.
The SUV also supports 120 kW DC fast charging. According to the company, the battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in around 20 minutes using a compatible DC fast charger.
GWM Nepal has yet to reveal the full feature list, interior details or pricing. More information is expected to be announced during the model’s official launch at the mobility expo.
