KATHMANDU: Tata Motors plans to launch its first flex-fuel passenger vehicle in India by the end of 2026 or early 2027.

The company confirmed that it is technically ready to introduce flex-fuel technology in the market. Managing Director and CEO Shailesh Chandra said Tata Motors aims to roll out at least one flex-fuel product within the next year.

Tata had earlier showcased the flex-fuel version of the Punch at the 2025 Auto Expo. The model used a 1.2-liter petrol engine capable of operating on ethanol blends above 85 percent.

The automaker is also preparing to increase production capacity as it targets stronger growth in the current fiscal year.

According to the company, inquiries and bookings for electric vehicles have increased significantly since March. Tata Motors said the rise is linked to fuel price concerns triggered by the ongoing West Asia conflict.
