KATHMANDU: TVS and Honda are locked in a tight race to dominate Nepal’s scooter market, with TVS reclaiming the top spot in the first quarter of 2025.

Customs data shows Nepal imported a total of 13,023 petrol-powered scooters from seven different brands in the first three months of 2025. TVS accounted for more than a third of total imports, or 4,920 units, during the review period.

Once the best-selling scooter brand in Nepal, thanks to its flagship Ntorq 125, TVS had lost ground in recent years following the introduction of new models like Honda’s Dio 125 and Yamaha’s Ray ZR 125. The brand, however, made a strong comeback at the start of 2025.

Jagdamba Motors, the authorized distributor of TVS in Nepal, imported 4,640 units of Ntorq and 280 units of Jupiter 110 during this period. The company is preparing to launch the updated Jupiter 110 in the Nepali market.

Honda followed closely with 4,675 units imported in the first quarter, just 245 units fewer than TVS. Syakar Trading, which represents Honda two-wheelers in Nepal, currently imports Honda Dio BS6 and Honda Dio 125 in the Nepali market.

Yamaha holds the third position but trails the top two significantly. MAW Enterprises, the authorized distributor of Yamaha, imported 2,445 units in the first three months of 2025. This included 2,414 units of Ray ZR and 30 units of Fascino.

Likewise, Hero is in the fourth position with 525 units imported in the first quarter. CG Motors represents Hero two-wheelers in the Nepali market. Xoom is the only Hero scooter currently available in the Nepali market.

Aprilia is next with 265 units imported in the first quarter of 2025, followed by Vespa with 175 units.
