KATHMANDU: Two separate committees have been formed to investigate Monday afternoon’s bus fire incident in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu.
The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, and the Valley Police Office have each set up their own committee to find out what actually happened with the fire on Riddhi Siddhi Yatayat’s bus, numbered Ba 5 Kha 4274.
The District Administration Office, Kathmandu, has formed a 7-member committee coordinated by Assistant Chief District Officer Krishna Prasad Gaihre.
The committee members include Police DSP Naresh Singh from Kalimati Police Circle, Police DSP Shailendra Kumar Bhatta from Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, Investigation Officer Suresh KC from the National Investigation District Office, Kathmandu, along with representatives from Public Transport Central Federation Nepal’s Dharmaraj Rimal, Nepal Transport Independent Workers’ Union’s Bhim Jwala Rai, and Riddhi Siddhi Yatayat Pvt. Ltd.’s Lav KC.
This committee is expected to find out the facts surrounding the incident and submit its report to the District Administration Office, Kathmandu, within seven days.
Separately, the Valley Police Office has formed its own 5-member committee led by SSP Ramesh Basnet.
Both committees will collect and analyze facts, evidence, and information related to the incident. This includes studying CCTV footage from around the scene, and gathering background details and other evidence on the bus driver, Dawa Lama, before preparing their reports.
The committees have also been asked to suggest precautionary measures and controls to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
The bus driver has since died while undergoing treatment.
