KATHMANDU: Russia’s historic car brand Volga has made a comeback with two new models, the C50 sedan and K50 SUV. The revival comes as global automakers exit Russia, creating space for local brands.

Both models are heavily based on existing Geely vehicles. The K50 SUV is almost identical to the Geely Monjaro, while the C50 sedan closely mirrors the Geely Preface. Changes are minimal, mainly limited to new grilles and Volga badging.

The C50 retains the original interior layout of the Preface. It includes a digital instrument cluster and a portrait-style infotainment screen.

Under the hood, the C50 gets a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine. It is offered in 150 hp and 200 hp variants, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The K50 is expected to use a more powerful setup, with up to 238 hp, an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and all-wheel drive.

Production of both models will take place at a former Volkswagen Group plant in Nizhny Novgorod. The facility previously produced Skoda and Volkswagen cars for the Russian market.

Pricing details have not been announced yet.
