6th MeroAuto rally set to kick off Friday

KATHMANDU: The sixth edition of the MeroAuto Motor Rally is set to begin on Friday. Organized by MeroAuto under Automotives Pvt. Ltd., the two-day rally will be held on Jestha 8 and 9 (May 22 and 23). The rally route will connect Kathmandu and Pokhara Lakeside.

The rally will be flagged off at 7 am on Friday from Charlie’s Cafe, Durbar Marg, Kathmandu. NADA President Surendra Kumar Uprety and Mahindra Nepal Chief Chaitanya Kagalkar will jointly flag off the event.

The rally will start from Durbar Marg and pass through Kalanki, Naubise, Galchhi, Muglin, Ambukhaireni and Damauli before reaching Pokhara Lakeside Sukute.

More than 40 cars and around 100 participants are expected to join the rally. Participants will represent sectors including automobiles, lubricants, tyres, spare parts, insurance and media.

Managing Director of Automotives Pvt. Ltd. Hari Gajurel said the rally aims to promote domestic tourism, encourage drive tourism culture, improve highway driving experience and expand professional networking.

“We have been organizing the motor rally every year since 2021 to promote domestic tourism and drive tourism culture. This year too, we are continuing the same initiative,” he said. “We have also linked the rally with social responsibility activities.”

Under its CSR initiative, the organizers will provide educational materials to Shree Ganesh Man Singh Memorial Basic School in Tarukaghat, Dhading. Rescue materials will also be handed over to Tanahun Police Office.

TotalEnergies Nepal is the title sponsor of this year’s rally. Mahindra Nepal under Agni Incorporated is the association partner, while CEAT Tyres Nepal is the performance partner.

Support partners include OMODA Nepal, Jaecoo Nepal, Nissan Nepal, Leapmotor, MG Nepal, Laxmi Hyundai, Geely Nepal and MAXUS Nepal.
