KATHMANDU: The updated Tata Punch EV is set to arrive in Nepal soon with improvements in battery capacity, range, charging technology, and features. The electric micro SUV has become one of the most popular EV models in Nepal since its launch at the NADA Auto Show 2024.
Sipradi Trading, the authorized distributor of Tata Motors in Nepal, started selling the Punch EV in September 2024. The model has received a strong response from Nepali customers, with more than 1,200 units imported since its introduction.
The updated Punch EV facelift is already on sale in India with several upgrades. The new model comes with changes in battery technology, drive system, charging capability, and cabin features.

The new Punch EV gets upgraded battery options. The previous model was available with 25 kWh and 35 kWh battery packs, while the updated version offers 30 kWh and 40.5 kWh battery options. The larger battery provides improved driving range.
Tata Motors has also updated the battery pack with prismatic LFP cells. The company says the new cell design helps improve packaging efficiency and supports higher battery capacity.
Charging performance has also improved. The new Punch EV supports 65 kW DC fast charging, up from the previous 50 kW system. The battery can charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 30 minutes under suitable charging conditions.
The updated model features a 6-in-1 integrated drive system that combines the motor, inverter, reduction gear, onboard charger, DC-DC converter, and power distribution unit. The new setup reduces weight and improves efficiency.

The Punch EV continues with three driving modes: Eco, City, and Sport. It also gets four-level regenerative braking with paddle control to recover energy while driving.
The facelift version receives minor exterior updates, including a redesigned front bumper, new LED taillights, updated alloy wheels, and new color options. The cabin gets a more premium layout with updated interior design.
Feature updates include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 360-degree camera, wireless charger, ventilated front seats, air purifier, cruise control, and sunroof.
For safety, the Punch EV comes equipped with six airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, electronic parking brake, and auto hold function.
The Tata Punch EV has received a five-star safety rating under Bharat NCAP. The updated version is expected to continue with a similar safety package.
If the Punch EV arrives with a competitive price tag, it could create a major impact in the hatchback segment. The model is expected to be suitable for both city driving and highway use.
