KATHMANDU: GWM’s newly launched electric SUV, the ORA 5, has won the prestigious ‘Design of the Year’ award at the 2025 London Design Awards.
The ORA 5 secured the title in the Product Design: Automobiles/Vehicles category, further strengthening its reputation for world-class design. The recognition highlights not only the SUV’s distinctive styling but also GWM’s focus on smart mobility, advanced technology and user-centric design.
Although it was launched in Nepal only recently, the ORA 5 has already attracted significant attention in the market. Its retro-inspired design, premium cabin, modern technology and comprehensive safety features have made it one of the most talked-about new EVs on social media and among car buyers.
VG Impex, the authorized distributor of GWM in Nepal, has priced the ORA 5 from Rs 4.699 million.

The ORA 5 follows the brand’s signature ‘Cat Family’ design language. Rounded LED headlamps, smooth body lines, a clean rear profile and SUV-inspired styling give it a unique identity compared to conventional SUVs. Measuring 4,471 mm in length with a 2,720 mm wheelbase, it offers a strong road presence despite its compact dimensions. The 200 mm ground clearance also makes it well suited for Nepal’s road conditions.
Inside, the ORA 5 features a premium cabin with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 14.6-inch floating touchscreen, Coffee OS infotainment system, wireless phone charging and a panoramic glass roof. The interior is finished with premium materials to enhance comfort and convenience.
Safety is another major highlight. The SUV comes equipped with adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition and a 540-degree camera. The top variant also features a LiDAR-based Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Other features include seven airbags, a nine-speaker audio system, ventilated front seats, welcome seats, a spare tire and a hidden rear wiper.
Powering the ORA 5 is a 100 kW electric motor producing 260 Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a 58.3 kWh LFP battery pack, offering a claimed driving range of up to 520 km on a single charge.
VG Impex has also confirmed that it is preparing to introduce the Haval xiaolong Max EV and the Haval H7 in the Nepali market in the near future.
