KATHMANDU: Nissan has unveiled the new Pixo EV, an affordable electric city car designed for the European market.
The Pixo name returns as an all-electric model after Nissan discontinued the previous petrol-powered Pixo in 2013. The new EV is positioned as Nissan’s entry-level electric model in Europe.
The Pixo EV has been developed through Nissan’s partnership with Renault and shares its platform with the Renault Twingo. It uses a 27.5 kWh LFP battery, making it Nissan’s first LFP-powered EV for the European market.
The battery provides a claimed WLTP range of up to 259 km. It supports 50 kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 15% to 80% in around 28 minutes.
The electric city car measures 3,796 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width and 1,512 mm in height. It has a 2,492 mm wheelbase.
Despite its compact size, the Pixo EV gets several modern features. These include automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist and Nissan’s e-Pedal technology.
The EV also gets Google built-in services, including Gemini. It offers navigation with real-time route planning and charging information through the MyNissan app.
The Pixo EV is designed by Nissan and will be produced at Renault’s plant in Novo Mesto, Slovenia.
Nissan will announce market-specific pricing in December. The Pixo EV is expected to start at around $23,000, before subsidies and incentives.
The new model will sit below the Micra in Nissan’s European EV lineup. It is designed specifically for European city driving.
