KATHMANDU: Yamaha has unveiled the updated 2027 MT-125 with a redesigned front fascia, revised body panels and new lighting elements. The facelift gives the entry-level Hyper Naked motorcycle a sharper look while retaining its existing engine.

The Yamaha MT-125 shares its overall design concept with the MT-15, which is popular in markets such as India and Nepal. However, the updated MT-125 adopts a new styling direction that sets it apart from the current MT-15.

The biggest change in the new Yamaha MT-125 is its redesigned headlight assembly. The bi-LED projector has been repositioned above the daytime running lights (DRLs). It sits within a translucent headlight cowl with contrasting design elements.

The fuel tank and tank shrouds have also been redesigned. The LED turn indicators are now integrated into the tank shrouds, while translucent elements and contrasting highlights give the motorcycle a fresh appearance.

The bike also gets revised side panels and dual-tone seat styling. These changes maintain its aggressive streetfighter character.

The updated MT-125 comes with a TFT instrument cluster that supports smartphone connectivity and navigation. Other features include traction control, a slipper clutch, 41 mm upside-down (USD) front forks and a rear mono-shock suspension.

The motorcycle uses Yamaha’s Deltabox perimeter frame. It gets disc brakes at both ends, with a radially mounted front brake caliper.

The new MT-125 continues with its 125cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with a four-valve SOHC setup. The engine produces 15 PS of power and 11.5 Nm of torque. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox.

The updated motorcycle will be available in four color options. The updated MT-125 is expected to reach European showrooms in the first quarter of 2027.

Yamaha does not sell the MT-125 in India and Nepal, where the MT-15 is available instead. The new design has raised expectations that the MT-15 could receive similar styling updates in the future.

However, Yamaha has not confirmed any facelift for the MT-15. Whether the new design language will extend to the larger model remains to be seen.
