KATHMANDU: No parking fees will be charged for the first 2 hours at city-operated parking spaces. Kathmandu Metropolitan City has introduced this new rule under the Economic Act 2025/26.

After 2 hours, charges will apply from the beginning. For two-wheelers, it is Rs. 15 per 30 minutes. For four-wheelers, it is Rs. 25 per 30 minutes. For example, if you park for 2 hours and 1 minute, you will pay Rs. 75 for a two-wheeler and Rs. 125 for a four-wheeler.

People with disabilities do not have to pay any parking fee. This rule applies to parking spaces managed directly by the city, like New Road and Old Bus Park. For parking managed with public or private partners, charges follow their agreements.

Private parking lots usually start at Rs. 20 for two-wheelers and rates can go up to Rs. 40 per hour.
