KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City has started distributing ambulances to 35 rural municipalities across the country.

As per the provisions of the budget and program for the current fiscal year, ambulance distribution has begun in 35 rural municipalities.

Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balendra Shah, said the ambulance distribution will be completed on September 23. The process had been on hold for the past year due to various reasons.

He said that transparent criteria have been set for ambulance distribution and priority has been given to places that are backward due to a lack of health facilities.

The metropolis has provided ambulances to health posts, primary health centers and basic hospitals of selected rural municipalities. The decision was made based on requests and set criteria.

Chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of the rural municipalities said the ambulances from Kathmandu Metropolitan City will support rural health services. They shared this after receiving the ambulances at the National Assembly Building today.
