KATHMANDU: BYD’s battery arm FinDreams Battery has partnered with Changsha Fusheng Technology to develop Blade Battery systems for industrial and mining rail locomotives in China.
The two companies signed the agreement on September 7 at BYD’s headquarters in Shenzhen. The batteries will be designed for locomotives used in mines, factories and railway yards, mainly for shunting and moving materials, according to Chinese media reports.
FinDreams Battery will provide battery research, development and manufacturing support. Changsha Fusheng will handle system integration and application development.
The companies have not revealed the deal value, battery supply volume or timeline for commercial production.
The partnership expands BYD’s Blade Battery technology into industrial rail applications. BYD is already using the batteries in electric heavy-duty trucks. In June 2026, it delivered 100 T31 electric dump trucks, each fitted with a 424 kWh Blade Battery.
FinDreams Battery is currently China’s second-largest EV battery supplier. It installed 72 GWh of batteries in the country between January and July 2026, holding an 18% market share. CATL led the market with 186 GWh and a 46% share.
