Chetak electric scooter put on display ahead of Nepal launch

KATHMANDU: Bajaj’s electric scooter, Chetak, is all set for Nepal debut.

Hansraj Hulaschand & Company, the official distributor of Bajaj in Nepal, has put the Chetak on display at its dedicated showroom prepared in Naxal, Kathmandu. This suggests that the electric scooter will be formally launched in the Nepali market within a few days.

The company has already conducted extensive testing of the Chetak in different pars of the country. It, however, has not announced the official launch date yet.

Chetak is available in multiple variants in the Indian market. It is not clear which variants will be introduced in Nepal. While all Bajaj motorcycles sold in Nepal are currently assembled locally, it is still uncertain whether the Chetak will also be assembled in Nepal.

The scooter is equipped with a 3.5 kW battery which offers a range of 153 kilometers.

The recent versions of the Chetak — 3501, 3502, and 3503 — feature a newly designed frame. The scooter is equipped with a 3.5 kW battery which offers a range of 153 kilometers, according the company. The battery has been placed under the floorboard to increase boot space.

Additional features in the scooter include a TFT touchscreen display, smart connectivity, music controls and navigation support.
