KATHMANDU: A team from the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office has arrested two individuals along with two suspicious vehicles.
Traffic police on Sunday took under control two individuals in possession of two Maruti Suzuki Swift cars with registration numbers Ba 16 Cha 3131 and Ba 16 Cha 4017.
According to police, Dhan Bahadur Tamang (40) from Doramba Rural Municipality–4 in Ramechhap was arrested from Shiva Chowk in Kageshwari Manohara Municipality–8, along with the Swift car (Ba 16 Cha 3131).
The two have been handed over to the Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office for further investigation.
Similarly, Mohan Lama (39) of Golanjor Rural Municipality–3, Sindhuli, was taken into custody from Boudha, Kathmandu, with another Swift car (Ba 16 Cha 4017).
During preliminary investigation, traffic police personnel discovered that neither of the vehicles was recorded in the database of the Transport Management Office in Ekantakuna nor registered with the authorized Suzuki dealer in Nepal. This suggests that the cars may have been smuggled from India and illegally brought into operation in Nepal, a traffic police officer said.
Traffic police have handed over the two individuals to the Tribhuvan International Airport Customs Office for further investigation.
