KATHMANDU: Buyers in Nepal can now choose from five electric SUVs available at monthly installments of under Rs 40,000, as rising EV adoption and intense price competition among brands continue to benefit consumers.

From the Tata Punch EV to the MG S5 and BYD Atto 2, several popular electric SUVs currently on sale can be purchased with monthly EMIs below Rs 40,000, based on prevailing auto loan rates.

MG, BYD, Kaiyi, Dongfeng Nammi, and Tata are among the brands offering competitively priced electric SUVs in the Nepali market.

The monthly installment calculations are based on a standard financing structure that includes a 40 percent down payment, a 60 percent loan amount, a seven-year loan tenure, and a 7 percent floating interest rate.

Currently, some banks and financial institutions are offering auto loans at interest rates below 7 percent. Fixed-rate auto loans for up to seven years are also available, usually in the 9 to 11 percent range. While floating interest rates offer lower monthly EMIs initially, they may increase if the bank’s base rate rises over time.

The monthly installment figures for all the models listed here are calculated based on a 7 percent floating interest rate.

Tata Punch EV

The Tata Punch EV is currently the most affordable electric SUV in Nepal. Distributed by Sipradi Trading, it is offered in Empowered and Empowered Plus S variants, priced at Rs 3.799 million and Rs 3.999 million, respectively.

Based on a 40 percent down payment and a 7-year loan at a 7 percent floating interest rate, the Empowered variant costs around Rs 34,400 per month, while the top variant requires about Rs 36,200 per month. The Punch EV is powered by a 98 kW electric motor paired with a 35 kWh battery.

Nammi Vigo

MAW Vriddhi sells the Nammi Vigo in Nepal in two variants E2 and E2 Plus priced at Rs 3.899 million and Rs 4.199 million, respectively. Under standard financing assumptions, the E2 variant can be purchased at a monthly EMI of around Rs 35,300, while the E2 Plus comes to about Rs 38,000 per month. The electric SUV features a 99 kW motor and a 51.87 kWh battery.

Kaiyi X3 Pro

The Kaiyi X3 Pro, jointly marketed by Laxmi E-Mobility and Golchha Group, is priced at Rs 3.999 million. With a 40 percent down payment and a seven-year loan at a 7 percent interest rate, the monthly installment works out to approximately Rs 36,200.
