KATHMANDU: Hyundai has opened bookings for its upcoming Bayon SUV in India at an initial amount of 11,000 Indian rupees.
The new Bayon is being positioned as an “Intelligent Utility Vehicle” with a focus on technology, safety, comfort and design. Hyundai plans to launch the SUV in India during the upcoming festive season.
The company has not yet announced the exact launch date or prices.
The Bayon measures around 4.2 meters in length. It is positioned in the mid-size SUV segment. Hyundai says the SUV offers a spacious cabin with good legroom, headroom and shoulder room.
The exterior gets a futuristic design. It features a sculpted bonnet, H-Edge LED daytime running lights and a redesigned front fascia. The SUV also gets geometric wheel arches, wrap-around door cladding and bridge-type roof rails.
Technology is one of the key highlights of the Bayon. It comes with an in-built generative AI voice assistant designed to provide more natural interaction between the driver and the vehicle.
The SUV is built on Hyundai’s Global K Enhanced Platform. Hyundai says the platform has been developed with a focus on structural strength and occupant protection. The company has also highlighted advanced safety features as part of the package.
The Bayon will be offered with a petrol engine. It will be available with a manual transmission and Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).
Hyundai is focusing on five key areas with the new SUV: intelligence, safety, comfort, performance and style. The company is expected to announce the detailed variants, engine specifications, prices and delivery timeline closer to the launch.
