KATHMANDU: Paramount Motors has officially introduced IM 6 electric crossover in the Nepali market. The car will be available for Rs 7.499 million in Nepal.

IM 6 is manufactured by IM Motors, a joint between SAIC Motors, Chinese tech giant Alibaba and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech. SAIC Motors is the parent company of MG which is also represented in Nepal by Paramount Motors.

Paramount Motors will display the IM 6 at the NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo which kicks off in Kathmandu on August 6. The vehicle directly competes with the Tesla Model Y in global markets.

The IM6 features air suspension and is packed with premium elements, including a flip-down rear-seat screen similar to that in the BMW i7, a key fob inspired by Porsche, wing mirrors like those found in Tesla models, and button-based door handles similar to those in the Fiat 500.

Built on an advanced 800-volt architecture, the IM 6 can from 10% to 80% in just 17 minutes, matching the charging speed of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, but at a more competitive price point.

The IM 6 is equipped with Enhanced Driver Intelligence (EDI) system which offers up to 6.7 times more safety than manual driving, according to the company.

The car also features heated, ventilated and massaging seats. Similarly, the dashboard houses a 26-inch display split into an infotainment system and instrument cluster.

Other premium features include soft-touch mats like those in Rolls-Royce, blind spot cameras similar to Hyundai’s, autonomous reversing technology seen in BMWs, and a ducktail spoiler and integrated light bar reminiscent of Aston Martin. The front and side design of the IM6 also draws inspiration from Tesla.

The vehicle is equipped with a 20-speaker premium audio system designed to deliver a theater-like sound experience.

The variant to be sold in Nepal features a 109 kW electric motor producing 450 Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a 75 kWh ternary battery which provides a range of up to 500 km on a single charge.

Built on MG’s Lizard Digital Chassis, the crossover integrates advanced technologies such as high-precision LiDAR, an NVIDIA Drive Orin chip, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8295P platform, delivering a smart cockpit experience with high-level automation.
