KATHMANDU: Paramount Motors, the authorized distributor of Chinese automaker IM Motors, is preparing to launch the premium coupe SUV, the IM 6, in the Nepali market.
The company has already imported 10 units of IM 6 and is preparing to formally unveil the car at the upcoming NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2025.
Positioned as a direct competitor to the Deepal S07 currently available in the Nepali market, the IM 6 is also expected to rival BYD’s Sealion 7. Its robust design and features suggest it is well equipped to take on both. Its distinct coupe design sets it apart from other competitors in its segment.
IM Motors is a joint venture between China’s automotive giant SAIC Motor, Alibaba Group and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech.
The SUV comes equipped with advanced technology, including three display screens, massage seats, and a 20-speaker audio system designed to provide a theater-like experience. Its 216 kW electric motor offers a peak torque of 450 Nm. This makes the IM 6 one of the most powerful vehicles in its class.
The car could be priced at around Rs 7.5 million in the Nepali market. However, the price will depend on which motor variant the company decides to offer for sale in Nepal.
SAIC Group has equipped the car with a 75 kWh ternary battery, which is expected to deliver a driving range of around 500 km on a single charge. One of the key highlights in the car is the ‘AD’ smart driving assist system, which, the company claims, offers safety that is 6.7 times higher than human driving when used to its full potential.

The IM 6 is built on SAIC’s Lizard digital chassis platform and boasts several high-end features, including high-precision LiDAR, NVIDIA Drive Orin chip, and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SA-8295P platform. According to the company, it also has an autonomous parking assist system featuring an impressive 300 parking sensors.
Expected Pricing
The car could be priced at around Rs 7.5 million in the Nepali market. However, the price will depend on which motor variant the company decides to offer for sale in Nepal.
If the IM 6 does indeed launch around this price point, it is expected to give its rivals some serious competition.
