KATHMANDU: Kia’s upcoming electric SUV, the Syros EV, has been spied testing in India for the first time.
The model, which was earlier seen on test runs in South Korea, is now being trialed on Indian roads according to Rushlane.
A camouflaged prototype was recently spotted at a charging station in Kochi, Kerala. In terms of exterior design and styling, the Syros EV looks largely the same as the ICE-powered Syros, which is already available in the Indian market. The Syros EV retains its tallboy proportions, featuring an upright front fascia with vertical LED DRLs, thick B-pillars and roof rails.
Underneath, the Syros EV is expected to use the same battery options as the Hyundai Inster EV. These include 42 kWh and 49 kWh Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) packs, delivering a driving range of around 300 km and 355 km, respectively, based on the WLTP cycle.
In India, the Syros EV will compete with Tata Nexon.ev, Mahindra XUV400 and MG Windsor EV in the compact electric SUV segment.
