KATHMANDU: The all-electric Renault Kwid EV has been spotted on Nepali roads.

Advance Automobiles, Renault’s official distributor in Nepal, is planning to introduce the Chinese-made car in the Nepali market in the near future.

The Kwid EV maintains the familiar design of its petrol-powered sibling, which was first launched in Nepal in 2018. While official specifications have not been released, the car coming to Nepal is expected to feature a 33 kW electric motor producing 125 Nm of torque, paired with a 26.6 kWh lithium-ion battery offering a CLTC range of up to 351 km. The car is expected to come loaded with modern features.

Although the petrol version of Kwid gained considerable popularity in Nepal, it remains to be seen how Kwid EV will perform in terms of sales. However, since the Kwid EV is doing well in China and Europe, it is also expected to be liked by Nepali consumers.

Measuring just 3.7 meters in length, the Kwid EV will compete in Nepal’s budget EV segment against models like the Tata Tiago EV, Wuling Bingo and Dongfeng Nammi .
