KATHMANDU: Renault is set to unveil the electric version of its popular Duster SUV this November, following the launch of the new Bigster SUV, as reported by Autocar UK.
The upcoming Duster EV will be built on the Renault Group’s CMF-BEV platform. This platform allows the option of a 4×4 setup by supporting a second electric motor at the rear. Most current models on this platform are front-wheel drive, so this marks a major shift.
The electric Duster will not replace petrol or diesel versions. Instead, it will be sold alongside them as an additional option. Renault plans to continue making internal combustion vehicles well into the next decade.
The Duster remains a strong seller in Europe, with over 65,000 units sold so far this year.
In global markets, the vehicle is sold under the Dacia brand. A hybrid 4×4 version of the third-generation Duster is also being added.
In Nepal, the India-made Renault Duster is well-known for its rugged design and strong road presence. The EV version, which will also be manufactured in India, is expected to be launched in Nepal by Advanced Automobiles, Renault’s official distributor.
