KATHMANDU: Chinese EV maker Leapmotor has started production of its B-series model, the B10, at its SKD facility in Myanmar. The rollout marks the first global model under the brand’s B series to enter production.

The company confirmed that its Myanmar SKD factory officially came into operation on March 19, 2026. A day later, the first batch of locally assembled B10 units was delivered to customers during a handover event held in Yangon.

Speaking at the event, Xu Jun, Senior Vice President and COO of Leapmotor Technology, said the company partnered with NPK Motor in November 2024. From signing the KD project agreement to delivering the first batch of vehicles, the company completed the process in just 16 months, launching two SKD models in that period, according to media reports.

Leapmotor’s global expansion is being driven through its joint venture with Stellantis, formed in 2024 under the name Leapmotor International. As of February 2026, the joint venture has expanded into 40 international markets across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, and South America, with more than 900 overseas outlets.

In 2025, Leapmotor exported over 67,000 units globally. By the end of February 2026, its cumulative exports had crossed the 100,000-unit mark.

In Southeast Asia, the company is also strengthening local production. Its C10 model is already being assembled in Gurun, Malaysia where the plant has an annual capacity of 60,000 units to serve the wider ASEAN market.

Electric vehicles from Leapmotor are available in Nepal through its authorized distributor Shangrila Motors. The lineup includes models such as the C10, B10 and T03.
