KATHMANDU: Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that deliveries of its first electric SUV, the e Vitara, will begin in India in December 2025.

The announcement was made by Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki, during a recent press event.

Production of the e Vitara has already begun at the company’s Hansalpur plant in Gujarat for export markets. The global version comes with two battery choices 49 kWh and 61 kWh and is available in both single- and dual-motor options.

In India, the e Vitara is expected to launch with a single-motor front-wheel-drive version offering around 500 km of range. The all-wheel-drive version is likely to follow later.

The e Vitara will feature a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital cluster, wireless charger, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a 10-way power driver’s seat, 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS.

The EV SUV measures 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height. It has a 2,700 mm wheelbase and 180 mm of ground clearance.

Once launched, it will compete with the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv.ev, Mahindra BE 6, and MG ZS EV.

Maruti Suzuki showcased the eVitara at the NADA Auto Show in Nepal in August 2025. In Nepal, the SUV will be available through CG MotoCorp, with the launch expected shortly after the India debut.
