MG brings luxury electric pickup truck ‘U9’ to Nepali market

KATHMANDU: Official distributor Paramount Motors said the new model will further strengthen MG’s premium EV portfolio in the country. The company is preparing to launch the pickup soon. It will be available in Luxury and Flagship variants.

The fully electric MG U9 comes with advanced technology and premium features. It is expected to be a strong option for Nepali roads with its powerful performance and capability.

The pickup is equipped with dual electric motors producing a combined 325 kW output. The front motor delivers 125 kW, while the rear motor produces 200 kW. Total torque stands at 700 Nm. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds.

Power comes from a 102.2 kWh LFP battery pack. It offers a 430 km WLTP-certified range on a full charge. With fast charging, the battery can be charged from 20 to 80 percent in 42 minutes.

The U9 also features air suspension and multiple driving modes, including Normal, Eco, Sport, Snow, Off-road, and Custom. These settings are designed to improve comfort and control on challenging terrain.

Inside, the pickup gets a premium cabin with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, 8-speaker JBL audio system, and 64-color ambient lighting. The Flagship variant adds an 8-way power-adjustable driver seat with ventilation, massage, and memory functions.

For safety, it comes with a 360-degree HD camera, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, and other ADAS features.

The U9 is not only luxurious but practical as well. It has a 3,500 kg loading capacity. Its V2L function also allows the battery to power external electrical devices.

According to Paramount Motors, the MG U9 is expected to set a new benchmark in Nepal’s premium electric pickup segment.
