KATHMANDU: Ather electric scooters have crossed the 600,000-unit milestone, eight years after the company began production.
Ather Energy started manufacturing electric scooters in 2018 and has now produced a total of 604,497 units. More than 300,000 scooters were produced and sold in the last 16 months alone, accounting for nearly 50 percent of the company’s total sales volume.
The company began its journey during a challenging period and had to face the Covid-19 pandemic in its early years. Despite that, Ather sold nearly 52,000 units in 2022, securing around 8 percent market share.
In 2023, the company crossed the 100,000-unit annual sales mark for the first time.
Sales continued to rise in the following years. Ather sold 126,000 units in 2024 and more than 201,000 units in 2025. With this growth, the company secured around 16 percent market share and established itself as the third largest brand in the segment.
The recently launched Ather Rizta has played a major role in driving sales growth. Likewise, the company’s newly introduced Battery as a Service (BaaS) model has also boosted demand.
In Nepal, Ather is currently the best-selling electric scooter brand in the market.
