KATHMANDU: The price of MG’s four-seater mini electric car, the Comet EV, has continued to rise.

While prices for vehicles imported from China are declining, those from India, including the Comet, are steadily rising. Paramount Motors, the authorized distributor of MG in Nepal, imports Comet from India, while other MG cars come from China.

Launched in Nepal during the NADA Auto Show 2023, the Comet EV is available in two variants. At launch, the entry-level Executive variant was priced at Rs 1.799 million, while the top-tier Excite variant was offered at Rs 2.099 million. The prices of Comet have gone up by Rs 200,000 in the span of just 21 months.

The Executive variant of Comet is priced at Rs 1.999 million, while the Excite variant is available for Rs 2.274 million.

The Comet stands out as a practical option for urban mobility thanks to its compact dimensions and city-friendly design. It has a 2,010 mm wheelbase and a tight turning radius of just 4.2 meters.

The Comet EV is powered by a 31.26 kW motor that delivers 42 horsepower and 110 Nm of torque. It runs on a 17.3 kWh lithium-ion battery, offering a tested range of up to 190 kilometers on a full charge. The car comes with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a tire pressure monitoring system, seatbelt reminders, ISOFIX child seat anchors, speed-sensing auto door locks and impact-sensing door unlock.
