KATHMANDU: CG MotoCorp, the authorized distributor of Suzuki in Nepal, has unveiled the e.Vitara in Kathmandu. The electric SUV will be showcased at the upcoming NADA Auto Show.
According to the company, bookings will open during the auto show starting on August 19, while customer deliveries are planned from October.
However, the price has not been revealed yet.
The SUV has already created a buzz in India, Japan, Europe and other Asian markets. Suzuki developed the eVitara, in collaboration with fellow Japanese brand Toyota, at its India plant.
The eVitara uses BYD’s Blade battery and will be offered with two battery options: 61 kWh and 49 kWh. The larger pack will deliver a driving range of up to 500 km on a single charge, according to the company.
The compact midsize SUV is 4,275mm long, 1,800 mm wide and 1,635 mm tall, while it has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm and a ground clearance of 180 mm.
In the exterior, the e-Vitara has LED headlights, daytime running lights and taillights, and active air vents on the front grille. It uses 18-inch wheels and also offers a panoramic sunroof.
Inside, the e-Vitara comes with multi-color ambient lighting, a wireless charger, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features include in-car connectivity tech, single-zone automatic climate control, a PM 2.5 air filter and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. The rear seats in the car can recline and slide for added comfort.
The car has four driving modes — Eco, Normal, Sport and Snow — and supports one-pedal driving.
On the safety front, the eVitara offers Level 2 ADAS features such as lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, seven airbags, blind spot monitoring, a tire pressure monitoring system, a 360-degree camera, and front and rear parking sensors. All four wheels feature disc brakes. The car also has features like an electronic parking brake, auto hold and an Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS) for pedestrian safety.
The e.Vitara is expected to compete directly with the India-made Hyundai Creta Electric.
