KATHMANDU: The government will enforce a daily five-hour closure on the Nagdhunga-Naubise-Malekhu road section to speed up ongoing upgrade works.

The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport held meetings with stakeholders after contractors said heavy traffic was slowing construction. Following this, the District Administration Offices of Kathmandu and Dhading issued a joint notice with a new traffic schedule.

From 10 December to 16 December, the road will remain closed from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM between Nagdhunga and Piplamod, and also around the Pokhrebhir area. The public has been asked to use alternative routes and to plan trips outside the closure period.

During the closure, vehicles heading out of Kathmandu will be stopped at the Nagdhunga check post. Emergency vehicles, including ambulances, security vehicles, fire engines, and hearses, will be allowed to pass.

For traffic coming from Mugling towards Kathmandu, holding points have been set at Khanikhola, Jungekhola, Galchhi, Baireni, and Mastaar.

In urgent cases, small and medium vehicles may take routes such as Sitapaila-Bhimdhunga, Ramkot-Dharke, or Samakhusi-Tokha-Chhahare.

All halted vehicles will be released after 3:30 PM.
