KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has intensified its crackdown against individuals accused of harassing passengers in different parts of the Kathmandu Valley.
On Thursday, a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, detained 60 people from the Kalanki and New Bus Park areas.
According to the office, the action followed complaints that the individuals were forcing pedestrians and passengers into vehicles, pulling their luggage and causing unnecessary harassment.
Those detained include taxi drivers, hotel operators and hotel employees.
Police said the campaign aims to improve public safety and prevent harassment at major transport hubs.
Earlier, police had also detained dozens of people on similar charges from the Balkhu, Jadibuti and Koteshwor areas as part of the ongoing operation.
