KATHMANDU: Tata Motors has launched the Sierra.ev electric SUV in India with an introductory price of 1.879 million Indian rupees (ex-showroom). The top-spec variant is priced at 2.599 million Indian rupees. The bookings for the new electric SUV are now open, while deliveries will start from July 15.

The Tata Sierra.ev is available in rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations. It competes with models like the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric and Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.

The Sierra.ev carries a design similar to the ICE-powered Sierra. It features a body-colored closed grille, LED light bar, dual-tone bumper with a silver skid plate, full-width rear LED light bar, roof spoiler and shark-fin antenna. The SUV gets 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

The cabin layout is similar to the petrol and diesel Sierra. It comes with a triple-screen setup and a four-spoke steering wheel. The SUV offers 622 liters of boot space, which can be expanded to 1,257 liters by folding the rear seats.

The electric SUV comes equipped with features including a 12-speaker JBL Black audio system with Dolby Atmos, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, powered tailgate, head-up display, auto park assist, six airbags and Level 2 ADAS.

Based on Tata’s Acti.ev+ platform, the Sierra.ev is offered with 63 kWh and 75 kWh battery packs. The models provide an MIDC-certified range of 565 km and 665 km, respectively.

The AWD variant is available with the larger battery pack and comes with multiple terrain modes, including Normal, Grass/Snow, Mud/Gravel, Sand, Rock Crawl and Custom. Tata claims the SUV can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds with Boost Mode.

The Sierra.ev supports DC fast charging. The battery can charge from 20 percent to 80 percent in 26 minutes using a 120 kW charger. It can add up to 263 km of range in 15 minutes.
