KATHMANDU: Road excavation has been prohibited for the next three months, effective until August 15. The Federal Road Supervision and Monitoring Office under the Department of Roads has issued the notice.
The restriction comes into effect from June 15 and will remain in place until August 15. During this period, no road digging will be allowed for water supply, sewerage, electricity, telecom, or other utility works.
The office stated that road cuts during the monsoon season cannot be properly restored immediately. This leads to further road damage and affects road condition and safety.
All subordinate road divisions have been instructed not to grant any permission for excavation during this period.
The authority has also warned that strict action will be taken under the Public Roads Act 2031 against anyone found digging roads without permission or in violation of the order.
