KATHMANDU: Traffic police have intensified their campaign against motorcycles that cause noise pollution in the Kathmandu Valley. During special checks carried out at various locations on Thursday, police seized 200 motorcycles fitted with loud exhausts.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, the vehicles were taken under control for violating the Transport Management Act 2049 BS. Officials said strict action will be taken against those found operating modified or noisy motorcycles.
Meanwhile, a similar drive named ‘Operation 365’ is also underway in Pokhara, where police have seized 104 motorcycles for the same offense.
Senior Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari, Chief of the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, urged riders to avoid using loud exhausts, stating that such vehicles contribute to noise pollution and can harm public health.
