KATHMANDU: The NADA Auto Show 2026 is set to begin on August 25 at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, just a week after the conclusion of the NAIMA Mobility Expo.

Like NAIMA, the upcoming auto show is also expected to witness several new vehicle launches. A total of 51 brands will participate in this year’s event, including a number of two-wheeler manufacturers preparing to introduce new and updated models.

Among the launches, two models stand out as potential crowd-pullers: the Yatri P2 electric scooter and the Yamaha XSR 155 motorcycle.

Yatri P2

The most talked-about two-wheeler ahead of the show is the Yatri P2. Developed jointly by Nepal’s Yatri Motorcycles and Sipradi, the electric scooter has already generated significant interest before its official debut.

With demand for electric scooters growing rapidly in Nepal, the locally developed P2 is expected to attract strong attention. Its “Made in Nepal” identity and Nepal-focused design could make it one of the highlights of the event.

According to the company, the scooter has been designed, developed and manufactured entirely in Nepal. Yatri says it has addressed several shortcomings found in existing scooters and introduced features not commonly seen in the segment.

One of the key highlights is DC fast-charging capability, a feature rarely offered in electric two-wheelers.

The P2 has reportedly undergone more than 7,000 km of testing across over a dozen locations in Nepal. While the company has not yet revealed its full specifications, teaser images and test mules suggest a design that blends scooter practicality with motorcycle-inspired styling.

The scooter features a muscular front and rear profile, LED headlamp, mid-mounted motor, 14-inch alloy wheels, aluminum swingarm and dual rear shock absorbers. It also appears to offer a wide seat and spacious floorboard.

Details regarding battery capacity and motor output have not been disclosed. However, the P2 could receive a strong market response if launched with competitive pricing.

Yamaha XSR 155

Another model likely to attract visitors is the Yamaha XSR 155. MAW Rides, Yamaha’s official distributor in Nepal, is expected to launch the retro-styled motorcycle at the show.

The XSR 155 arrives in Nepal around nine months after its launch in India, where it has gained popularity for its styling, performance and features.

With demand for retro-inspired motorcycles growing in Nepal, the XSR 155 could find a strong customer base if priced competitively.

The motorcycle takes inspiration from Yamaha’s global XSR family and combines classic styling with modern technology. It is based on the same platform used by the Yamaha R15 and MT-15 and shares the same engine architecture.

The bike comes with a Delta Box frame, round LED headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank, flat single-piece seat, 10-liter fuel tank and a curb weight of 137 kg.

Power comes from a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA). The engine produces 18.4 PS and 14.2 Nm of torque and is paired with a six-speed gearbox featuring an assist and slipper clutch.

The suspension setup includes upside-down front forks and a rear mono-shock. Other features include disc brakes on both wheels, dual-channel ABS, tubeless tires and alloy wheels.

The XSR 155 also gets a fully digital LCD instrument cluster with Yamaha Y-Connect smartphone connectivity, call and SMS alerts, LED lighting, traction control and electric start.
