KATHMANDU : Vietnamese electric mobility company Green SM has entered the European market by launching its all-electric taxi service in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Backed by Vingroup, Green SM already operates in Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines and India. Copenhagen becomes the company’s first European market.
The Danish fleet consists of VinFast VF 6 and VinFast VF 8 electric SUVs.
Unlike ride-hailing platforms that connect passengers with independent drivers, Green SM owns its vehicles and directly employs and manages its drivers. The company says this allows it to maintain consistent standards for vehicle maintenance, safety and customer service.
Before entering service, drivers receive training in road safety, customer care, operating procedures and electric vehicle operation.
Customers can book and pay for rides through the Green SM mobile app, which displays the fare before confirming the trip.
Richard Nabil Chahine, CEO of Green SM Europe, said Copenhagen was chosen because of its strong focus on sustainable mobility. He added that the company aims to become a trusted provider of safe, professional and fully electric transport services in the city.
To mark the launch, Green SM is offering new customers five vouchers with a 25% discount per ride, capped at 100 Danish kroner (around US$16) each. The promotional offer is valid until September 30.
According to the company, it will initially focus on complying with Danish regulations, strengthening its local operations and improving the service based on customer feedback before expanding further across Europe.
VinFast is also expanding its presence in India with a growing lineup of electric vehicles, including the VF 6 and VF 7. The Vietnamese EV maker is also expected to enter the Nepalese market as part of its broader regional expansion plans.
