KATHMANDU: A total of 19 roads across the country have been affected due to floods and landslides triggered by monsoon rains
As of 10 am Thursday, seven major highways are completely blocked, while one-way traffic has resumed on 12 road sections after debris was cleared, according to Nepal Police.
The Koshi Highway has been entirely shut due to a landslide at Barun in Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-4 of Sankhuwasabha. The highway has remained out of operation since the third week of May.
One-way traffic has resumed on several roads previously obstructed by floods and landslides.
Similarly, the Pasang Lhamu Highway in Rasuwa has remained closed after landslides swept away parts of the road and a bridge in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality. In Sindhupalchowk, a landslide at Kodari has blocked the Araniko Highway. Similarly, the East-West Highway has also been closed in Nawalparasi East due to continuous rainfall.
In Lamjung, landslides have disrupted the Mid-Hill Highway, while flooding at Righigar in Aathbiskot, Rukum West, has completely blocked the Jajarkot-Dolpa Bheri Corridor Road.
One-way traffic has resumed on several roads previously obstructed by floods and landslides. These include the Kathmandu–Nuwakot Road, Mid-Hill Highway (Tehrathum), Galchhi–Trishuli–Mailung–Syafrubesi road, and sections of the Kaligandaki Corridor in Baglung and Nawalparasi East.
