KATHMANDU: The 2026 Tata Punch EV has received a 5-star safety rating in the latest Bharat NCAP crash tests, reinforcing its position as one of the safest electric SUVs in its segment.
The electric SUV scored 31.09 out of 32 points for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 45 out of 49 points for Child Occupant Protection (COP).
In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the Punch EV provided good protection to the head, neck, pelvis, and legs of both front occupants. Protection for the chest and lower legs was rated as adequate.
During the side movable deformable barrier test, the SUV offered good protection to the head and abdomen, while chest protection was rated as adequate.
The Punch EV also achieved good overall protection in the side pole impact test.
For child occupant safety, the SUV scored 24/24 in dynamic crash tests and 12/12 for child restraint system (CRS) installation. It received 9/13 in the vehicle assessment category, resulting in a total child occupant protection score of 45/49.
The Bharat NCAP test vehicle was equipped with six airbags (including front, side, and curtain airbags), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat anchors, and seat belt reminders as standard safety features.
The latest crash test result comes as Tata Motors prepares to introduce the facelifted Punch EV in several markets, including Nepal. The updated model features refreshed styling, larger battery options, faster DC charging, and enhanced equipment while retaining its strong safety credentials.
The 2026 Tata Punch EV has landed in Nepal and will go on sale within the next few days.
