KATHMANDU: BYD has introduced the updated Denza Z9 GT, claiming it as the world’s longest-range battery electric vehicle (BEV). The electric station wagon delivers a maximum CLTC-rated driving range of up to 1,036 km with a 122.496 kWh Blade battery pack.

The company continues to lead China’s EV range segment. Interestingly, regulatory filings show that the standard Denza Z9 BEV offers an even higher 1,068 km CLTC range, although BYD has not officially promoted it as the longest-range EV.

The updated Z9 GT will be available in both BEV and PHEV versions. The BEV variant comes in RWD and AWD configurations with battery options of 102.33 kWh and 122.496 kWh. Depending on the variant, claimed range figures stand at 820 km, 860 km, 880 km, 1,002 km, and 1,036 km (CLTC).

The newly introduced RWD version uses a 370 kW (496 hp) electric motor and has a top speed of 240 km/h. The AWD variant combines three electric motors producing a total of 850 kW (1,140 hp), allowing a top speed of 270 km/h.
In terms of size, the Z9 GT measures 5,195 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width, and has a 3,125 mm wheelbase, maintaining the same dimensions as before.

Inside, the cabin retains a symmetrical layout with a 17.3-inch central touchscreen, dual 13.2-inch displays, and BYD’s DiLink smart cockpit system powered by a 4nm chip, supporting multi-screen connectivity and voice control.
