KATHMANDU: Google has rolled out one of the biggest updates to Google Maps in more than a decade, introducing new 3D navigation and an AI-powered feature called “Ask Maps.”

The update integrates Gemini AI into Maps, allowing users to ask questions directly within the app. By tapping the “Ask Maps” button, users can receive conversational answers along with a customized map showing relevant locations and suggestions.

The feature is designed to help users quickly find information such as nearby places, route options, and travel recommendations based on real-time data available in Maps.

Google says the update uses the platform’s constantly updated location data to deliver more personalized responses and help users plan trips more efficiently.

The interface has also been redesigned to create a more immersive navigation experience. It now includes detailed 3D buildings and more realistic terrain visuals to help drivers better understand their surroundings.

According to Google, the improved navigation system provides clearer directions and real-world information, helping drivers stay focused while preparing for upcoming turns and road conditions.
