KATHMANDU: The upgraded Jaecoo J6T electric SUV has gone on sale in Nepal. The model was first introduced about one and a half years ago as the J6. Now, it returns with updates and a ‘T’ suffix, featuring a sharper overall design.

The official distributor for Omoda/Jaecoo in Nepal, SPG Automobiles, has set the price at Rs 6.899 million. However, under an introductory offer, the SUV is available at Rs 6.699 million for a limited time.

Here are the four major changes in the new J6T compared to the previous J6:

Interior and size update

The width has increased by 6 mm, making it slightly bigger than before. Length and height remain unchanged.

New wheels and higher ground clearance

The SUV gets a redesigned wheel setup. Ground clearance has increased by 25 mm. This makes it more suitable for rough Nepali roads. It is now among the highest ground clearance EV SUVs available in Nepal.

Revised exterior design

The earlier ‘i’ branding has been removed. The J6T now features improved fit and finish. The rear section is also updated. The bulky external rear-mounted storage seen earlier has been redesigned.

Updated steering wheel

The steering wheel has been changed. The previous unit was smaller and not very user-friendly. The new model gets a three-spoke steering wheel, which looks more premium and practical.

Battery and motor remain the same

There are no changes in the powertrain. The SUV continues with a 130 kW motor and a 65.69 kWh LFP battery supplied by CATL. The claimed range is up to 431 km, slightly improved from before.

It supports up to 130 kW DC fast charging and 6.6 kW AC charging.

EMI details

At the current price of Rs 6.699 million, buyers can opt for financing. With around 40% down payment (Rs 2.679 million) and a 7-year loan tenure, the monthly installment comes to roughly Rs 59,000 at current interest rates below 6%.
