KATHMANDU: Kia Corporation is preparing to launch the next-generation Kia Sonet in 2027.

The model will be fully redesigned and will move to a new platform. The second-generation Sonet, codenamed QY2E, will be based on the K1 platform shared with the Syros.

The new architecture will support updated electronics and systems. It is also expected to improve rear seat space with a slightly longer wheelbase.

The SUV is likely to get a larger touchscreen and a fully digital instrument cluster. It may also feature Level 2 ADAS technology.

Engine options are expected to remain similar to the current model. These include 1.2-liter petrol, 1.0-liter turbo petrol, and 1.5-liter diesel units.

Kia is also reportedly working on a new strong hybrid system for the Sonet.
