KATHMANDU: Geely has unveiled its new-generation i-HEV (Intelligent Energy Hybrid) system, reporting a Guinness-certified fuel consumption of 2.22 L/100 km and engine thermal efficiency of 48.4 percent, according to Chinese media reports.
The new hybrid system uses AI-based energy management and a dedicated hybrid powertrain, improving overall efficiency by over 10 percent. It also features an electric drive producing 230 kW, designed for better low-speed performance and energy recovery.
Geely confirmed that the i-HEV system will be introduced in key models, including Geely Preface and Geely Monjaro. The Preface i-HEV delivers a WLTC fuel consumption of 3.98 L/100 km, while the Monjaro i-HEV records 4.75 L/100 km.
Both models retain their existing design with minor updates and feature dual-screen layouts, connected infotainment, and advanced comfort features in higher variants.
The system will also be expanded to other models such as Emgrand and Boyue, with rollout planned from 2026.
The development reflects a growing focus on hybrid technology in China, as automakers adopt HEVs as a cost-efficient alternative to fully electric vehicles.
